The bronze tripod, as the most representative of supreme power among bronze vessels, showcased its dazzling charm during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, making it one of the carriers of ancient Chinese splendid culture.
During the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, the casting technology of bronze ware was very skilled, and a wide variety of bronze cauldrons were created, which can be roughly divided into the following four types: round cauldrons, tripod cauldrons, flat legged cauldrons, and square cauldrons.
Among these four types of bronze tripods, the Li tripod and the flat footed tripod were created during the Shang and Zhou dynasties, and their form and function were not suitable for daily life. Therefore, the usage time of the Li tripod and the flat footed tripod was very short and did not form a certain influence. The square tripod, as a four legged double ear container with square or rectangular grooves, did not form a certain scale.
Therefore, the round tripod is the longest popular bronze tripod style in history. The basic form of a round tripod is that the abdominal cavity is very round and deep, the ear is small and upright on the edge of the mouth, and the three legs are conical. During the Spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, circular bronze cauldrons had become the most mainstream ritual vessel, and were also used to "distinguish between the superior and inferior, and distinguish between the superior and the inferior".
